Being a native of Indiana, upon moving to Texas I learned that Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for freedom, justice, and equality in America. It commemorates the day when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their emancipation—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This historic moment underscores the importance of vigilance, transparency, and accountability in all institutions, including our courts.
As we honor Juneteenth, we are reminded that the judiciary plays a vital role in safeguarding civil rights and ensuring equal protection under the law. Judicial reelections are not just about maintaining order—they are about preserving justice. It is our responsibility to vote for judges who demonstrate fairness, integrity, and a commitment to upholding the rights of all citizens. In doing so, we honor the legacy of Juneteenth and advance the promise of true equality.
As your Presiding Judge of the 203rd Judicial District Court I will continue “Fighting for Justice, Round After Round” with a dedication to following and upholding the law. Just as champions train relentlessly for the ring, I have dedicated myself to upholding the law and serving our community with integrity and compassion. Together, let’s continue this fight for justice, ensuring fairness and equality for all.
